Brunch Adventures - Two Sis Co.

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of trying out (what has become one of my favourite) brunch spots in Sydney called Two Sis Co. As a general overview, this place was amazing. The food was absolutely gorgeous and tasted even better, and the whole atmosphere of the cafe is so lovely! The beautiful banana leaf wall was just made for instagram photos, although most of seats were taken by the time I got there and we had to wait a little while to get the seat we wanted. I would recommend getting there around 10-10:30 am so you have plenty of time to enjoy the food and take in the atmosphere. I have put together a collection of photos from the day (taken by me and my trusty gal Nausheen!) that I just had to share. Enjoy!

We ordered the french toast with Persian fairy floss (major heart eyes!) and two fruity frappes to share between us. The french toast was divine, crunchy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. I'm glad we decided to share because there is no way I could have finished it on my own!

As you can see, these frappes also had some serious insta-worthy appeal. They were so fresh and pretty, and I can't help but crave one now that I look back on it 😋

Just admiring the view :)

Thank you so much for reading this post! Leave a comment with your favourite brunch spot below or recommend some great ones in Sydney if you like :) Love you all as always,

My Favourite Green Bowl

Hello again my loves! Todays' blogpost is something i haven't really done before - I'm going to be sharing the recipe for my favourite green bowl. This green bowl is honestly one of my favourite salads right now, It is so filling, healthy (duh!) and makes for some great instagram photos too! It's pretty easy to make as well, but it does take a little while to get everything prepared.

There you have it! Your very own delicious and nutritional green salad. Now all thats left to do is take a thousand instagram photos while it's still looking pretty 😉. I really hope you enjoyed today's blog post - As I said before it's not something I'm used to doing. While you are here make sure to save some of the pictures onto Pinterest so you can always have this recipe at hand and leave a comment if you would like :) . Love you all as always,

My Top 10 Moments Of NYFW

Hello again! Now unless you have been under a rock for the past week, you are sure to know that the looks from New York Fashion Week has once again blown everyone away. In honour of arguably one of the most important weeks in the fashion industry, I'm sharing my top 10 favourite looks and inspirationcfrom the streets of New York.

Note - None of these photos are my own: Photo credit - IMAXTREE and Getty Images

This look is so magical and the flowers in her hair are so dainty - the perfect way to add a feminine touch.

This photo makes me want to go blow all my savings on a pair of hoop earrings (which might not be a bad idea 😉)

These earrings are the perfect way to spice up an otherwise plain outfit.

Simplicity at its best - I love the pairing of red and a muted brown.

And on the completely opposite end of the spectrum, vibrant colours and intricate beading paired with a matching head piece for the perfect pop.

I really really love the experimentation of eyeliner here - maybe it's time to add some crazy colours into my collection!

Colour coordinating your snacks to your outfit has got to be one of the best things to come out of this week - and can we talk about the stunning hair? Embrace that 'fro girl. Embrace it.

Another of my favourite looks - pink paired with black is an all round classic.

My favourite (and literally) golden moment from the catwalks.

Thank you so much for reading my loves! I hope you enjoyed getting inspired by these looks - I might have to do a part 2 as there were so many more I loved! Be sure to stick around - I have a lot of fun things planned for the year ahead.

Love you all as always,

ps - while you're here, you might as well check out some of my other posts 😉

Everything I've Learned In 2017

2017, What a year it has been. Through all of the highs and lows, the mistakes, the memories and everything in between, I managed to pick up a few things that I would like to share; so, I now present to you:

1. Don't raise your voice, improve your argument

2. Not every thought needs to be said out loud

3. Focus on yourself, then everything else will fall into place

4. Don't be afraid to dream

5. Three words - go for it

6. If you love someone, make sure they know. You never know when someone will leave you without saying goodbye

8. Plan for your future

9. Drinking more water will solve almost every problem

10. Find your passion and go after it - it is the one thing no one will be able to take away from you

11. Detaching your self from the online world is a good idea

12. School will be frustrating and most of the things you learn are completely and utterly pointless, but that's ok because when it's all done you will never have to do it again

13. Sometimes it's fun to loose track of time

14. All change is for the better

15. Knowledge. Is. Power.

16. Let go of the past

26. Time goes by really, really fast

27. And last but not least, always have fun

I really hope you enjoyed this post! Happy New Year to all of you, may this time be a wonderful period of happiness, blessings and growth. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey this year, I seriously don't know where I would be with out you.

Love you all as always,

Summer 17 / 18 Wishlist

One of my favourite things about this time of year is all the fabulous sales taking over the shops right about now, and you know what that means... Time for another wish list post! This time I'm covering all things fashion and beauty, so hopefully you can find some inspiration for gift ideas or even things to add to your own.

I do not own any of the following photos, they are from the brands websites.

Frank Body have always had good reviews and I have been wanting to try them out for  myself for ages. This mini scrub set seems perfect for a first timer, and it doesn't break the budget coming in at only $19.95

I actually smelt this fragrance in store earlier, and trust me if it wasn't $29.99 I would have bought it right then and there. Fortunately for me, I looked on the Victoria's Secret website and found it for just under $10. It smells absolutely perfect for summer - Fresh and girly with notes of white tea and vanilla.

I have wanted these style jeans for my wardrobe ever since spring started, and I feel like they would be the perfect staple for my summer closet. The colour and fit look so amazing, and I can already see myself creating multiple looks with these jeans. However they do come at the price of $100, which is definitely pushing it for someone like me who doesn't exactly have a load of cash to splash.

My lipstick collection is looking kinda sad right now, and this set has it all. Too Faced lipsticks all have pretty good reviews, and the swatches and samples I have had in the past have always lasted well. These shades also look pretty good on my skin, and can we talk what great value this set is? Ordinarily, just one of these lipsticks cost $30, but this set of four minis only costs $36.

I'm almost certain that everyone single one of you reading this has heard of the Mario Badescu skincare range, and probably heard someone rave about it too. This facial spray is infused with herbal extracts and aloe vera to help soothe inflamed skin and is mixed with rosewater to gently cleanse and hydrate. It also is wallet friendly at just $9, which if you ask me is pretty good value for a 118 mL spray.

I found these shorts via Pinterest and instantly knew that they would be perfect for my summer collection. I normally don't like wearing shorts, but this pair looks so comfy and come at the irresistible price of $16!

I saw this palette on the Mecca website last week and instantly fell in love with these shades. They are the perfect warm neutral shades for my skin tone, and even include 6 matte and 6 metallic colours. However, it is a bit on the pricy side at $71, but the quality of Stila should (hopefully) make it worth it.

As soon as I saw this set in my local Mecca Maxima (A big beauty store in Australia for all you non - Aussies), I'm not going to lie, I got a bit excited. Koreas skincare has been one of my favourite brands this year, even making an appearance in my first blog post. This set comes with a deep exfoliating scrub, clay deep cleansing mask, rich moisturising mask and an instant brightening mask. Price wise, the entire set costs $50 making them around $12.50 each, which is pretty okay for what you get.

I have always wanted to add a book by New York bestselling author Rupi Kaur to my collection, and this recent release 'the sun and her flowers' looks like it will soon be making an appearance on my shelves.  A paperback copy of it costs just $7.18 on Amazon, and I think indulging in the positive messages about growth and healing would be the perfect way to start the new year.

These Gucci inspired belts are so trendy at the moment, and I feel like I could totally make room for one in my summer wardrobe. They are so versatile and practical, and this one from supre only costs $15!

I don't know about you, but I always somehow end up buying a ton of eyeshadow and never even think about brushes. I have previously bought the face version of this set, and despite the fact that they were not from a big name brand, they lasted pretty well and did their job just fine. They are also really affordable at just $14.95, so I might just be welcoming these into my collection pretty soon.

Would this even be a wish list post if The Body Shop didn't make an appearance? I found this treats set while browsing online the other day, and I'm not going to lie, I am kinda obsessed. It comes with a Japanese cherry blossom scented body butter and shower gel, as well as a mini bath lily. Not to mention the fact that The Body Shop is having crazy good sales right now, so even if this set doesn't quite take your fancy, I'm sure you will find something you love for a great price ( by the way, this set cost $13!)

That's all from me my loves! Make sure to leave some post ideas on my Instagram if you have any.

Self-Care September: 17 Things to do in The Name Of Self-Care

Hello hello! Welcome back to my Self-Care series! This is going to be my last post in this series so I have gathered a list of my favourite things and ideas of what to do for my self when I have a spare moment to myself. It is important to remember that self-care is about more than just taking a bubble bath or eating a piece of chocolate, it's about learning to nurture your body and mind, taking proper care of your self and knowing your worth. These tips are 17 of my favourite things to do in the name of self-care - mind, body, and soul.

hope you enjoy xx

This one doubles as a time out exercise and as a reminder/inspiration for you. I like to refresh mine every month with my new goals and focus

Making sure you are getting enough sleep is extremely important, so I highly recommend downloading a sleep tracking app (Apple devices have a built in ones in the 'Clock' app) so you can see how many hours sleep you are getting, what time you need to go to bed, receive reminders on when to turn off your devices and start getting ready for bed, as well as alarms and charts showing your weekly sleep habits.

There are tons on Instagram accounts and Pinterest boards on this topic if you are stuck for inspiration. Bullet journaling is a fun and personal thing to do, and like to use mine to write down thoughts, goals, memories and to do lists to name a few.

I recently made a playlist with all the old songs I loved ( 2013 Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen anyone?) and right now it is one of my favourite things to listen to. For me, songs are attached to memories, an it makes my feel a lot better to be able to relive the good moments when i'm feeling down.

Or old. It doesn't really matter, just as long as you are learning something. You could buy or download books on something you love, learn a language or even revisit old notes from previous years. Knowledge is power after all.

Couch potatoes and internet addicts I'm looking at you here *looks at myself* . It is very important to stay active, and there are countless things you can find and love. I love playing basket ball (not just because I'm tall folks) and sometimes I like to put on a fun playlist and jog around my suburb and do some simple exercises afterwards. One thing I started doing to make this a habit was not letting myself shower in  the morning until I had done a workout. Sounds strange I know, but trust me, it works!

When was the last time you sat down a read a book? Painted a picture? Baked a cake? Played an instrument? What ever it is that you love doing, just do it.

Is it just me, or is planning something in detail strangely soothing?
I started making an itinerary for my gap year, planning how to reach my goals and how I'm going to boost my blog. You will be surprised at how good you feel after making a plan to stick to.

No, I am not talking about quadratic equations and Pythagoras theorem, I'm talking about I initially started doing this as an idea for a post to upload later in the year, but I was surprised at how many things I was able to think of. It is important - mentally and spiritually - to reflect on your life and take out the most valuable lessons, weather it be to take every opportunity or simply to never leave the room while making toast.

Quick story time - A couple of years ago, one of my best friends moved to the other side of the planet, and long story short, we lost touch. Earlier this year we started messaging each other again, and it turns out she is coming back this December.

Whenever I need an extra kick of motivation, I open up my curtains and let some air in. I find it soothing to listen to the outside world and have some fresh air coming in as I do my work.

This one will only take a second, why don't you do it now? Close your eyes, relax your
body and take 5 deep breaths. You probably don't realise how tense you feel all the time, so keep this one in mind for whenever you are on the bus or want a quick break from studying.

I started doing this in 2015, and I have managed to rack up a solid $200 from the random coins I have found around my house or have been given to me as change from purchases. Another idea I recently saw on instagram was saving every $5 note given to you for a year and putting it in a jar with the lid superglued shut. Anyone want to try this with me in 2018?

Take a shower. Wash your face. Brush out your hair. Exfoliate. There are so many things you can do to give yourself a small hygiene boost.

Creating short-term or long-term goals is essential in having a heathy lifestyle. They can be related to anything you want, work, school, hobbies, the list goes on. Let the feeling you get when you finally complete them be your motivation.

If possible, turning off all your devices and getting back in touch with the real world is always a good idea. If you can't survive the whole weekend, powering down your devices for an hour or so will also help you to fight the urge to check instagram every two seconds. I use this trick while studying and trust me, you will be surprised at how many times you reach for your phone when you are supposed to be doing something important.

Last but not least, creating your own self-care routine. This is a vital step in self - care, and yours could include ideas from this list or others from around the internet. The end goal is after all, to begin nurturing your mind, body and soul daily. You only get one body, so it is important to take care of it - inside and out.

Hope you enjoyed this list!!

Self-Care September: Self-Care Habits + Goals

Hello hello! Welcome back to my Self-Care September series! I know I haven't posted in a little while, but I have more posts up my sleeve to post up later this week so make sure to stay tuned to the blog! I also have decided to continue the self-care theme into October because I got so busy with exams in September that I never got the chance to finish this series. Today I decided to do a post on my self-care habits and goals because of how it important it is to be paying daily attention to your mind and body.

Hope you enjoy xx

Over the past year, I have been aiming to not only be incorporating self-care in my life, but making those actions habits in my daily routine.

I think I have mentioned this one before, and I can literally not even describe how much this has changed me. I realised that sometimes I could go a whole day without even realising I hadn't drank any water, so I slowly stated making my way up to 4+ bottles a day. My increased water intake started giving my more energy, healthier hair and nails and clearer skin, so this is probably one of my most favourite things I can do for my body with little to no effort.

Starting a skincare routine (and sticking to it) was a huge help in keeping my skin healthy. I wash twice a day with goat milk soap (this stuff is actually the holy grail of skincare, It's so easy to get your hands on, lasts a long time, and deep cleans your skin instantly), pat dry and moisturise with the Simple Light Hydrating moisturiser. Twice a week I also put on a face mask and exfoliate. My favourite DIY exfoliator right now is just greek yoghurt and coffee grounds mixed to form a paste and I have recently bought the Don't Look At Me face mask from lush (let me know on my Instagram if you have tried it!). I also started doing a haircare routine (Anyone else with an afro will know how important that is) which consists of the L.O.C method (Liquid, Oil + Cream) every night with a protective hair style. I also condition twice a week and shampoo with a sulphate free growth shampoo and rinse with cold water. It may be a humungous trek, but it has left my hair so much stronger and  healthy.

This one may sound pretty boring (don't worry, I thought so too at first) but as time went on I found this becoming more and more prominent in my Self-Care routine. My current favourite reads include 'Secrets Of A Beauty Queen' by Stephanie Darling & I have really been looking forward to starting 'The Little Dictionary Of Fashion' by Christian Dior. Reading also allows me to take time out of my day to unwind and forget about stress, homework and assignments, all while boosting my knowledge on things I'm passionate about. Its a win win!

Becoming more active has been on my to-do list for the longest time, and although I feel like I am making progress, I still find myself sitting around for hours on end, sometimes skipping a workout. I aim to be more active, particularly in the mornings before I get too tired.

Being a full time high-school student means spending long periods of time thinking about the 11 + homework tasks, assignments and tests all due within the next couple of weeks (seriously, how is that even possible? I only take 9 subjects! ), as well as leaving early and coming home late, meaning I have only a few hours to myself. I am aiming to create more time for myself - actually doing something and not just watching Netflix for hours on end (don't pretend like you don't do that lol) .

I have very high expectations for myself and my future, so making a start on my long-term goals is something I can not wait to do. I want to create a vision board of everything I'm going to do and how I'm to do it - let me know if you want me to do a post (maybe even a series on all of it)

Physically and mentally for that matter. I want to give myself a break from the online world (don't worry guys, I have a plan to keep my blog going) and I want to go on a physical cleanse. Lemon water and eating more greens anybody?

Hope you enjoyed reading this post! What are your self care goals? Let me know on instagram (@liasamuels_)

Self-Care September: My Best Self-Care Tips

Todays' post will be all about my best self-care tips on health, self-love, motivation, fitness, establishing your very own self-care habits/routine, and everything in between! (hey, that rhymes) hope you enjoy xx

Note: Obviously I am noisome kind of professional, all of these tips have come from me and my personal experience and I just wanted to share them with you guys x

Just as the graphic says, making time for yourself is essential, so I always like having one activity or part of my day that allows me to take some down time. Personally, I like blogging (duh), but what you decide to do is completely your choice. Don't be afraid to switch it up a little if you start getting bored with your current routine. Another tip I would like to mention is that clearing up my workspace really does help to clear up my mind. I'm a very visual thinker, so what I see in front of me tends to also reflect on how I see situations in my mind. I like to open up my curtains and let some light in, make a to-do list and clean up my surroundings a little bit (although not going to lie, making my bed almost always never gets done... I mean seriously, what is the point if you are just going to mess  it up later!?); and while these sometimes these things don't feel like they make a difference, I find that it helps me to remain focused and inspired.

Finding the inspiration or motivation to keep going can definitely be a struggle at times, but always having a sub-conscious reminder of what I am aiming to do always helps me remain focused. As mentioned before, I am a very visual thinker, so at the beginning of each month I like to create a vision board that hangs just above my desk. I like to include things such as motivational quotes, inspiring images, important dates and other little decorations and goals for that month. I also find that this helps to get me in the correct mindset for that month as by the end of the first day, I feel like I have already accomplished something.

Here we go, the one thing that I always dread. While it may be hard, eating healthy and exercising regularly plays an important role in my self-care routine. As a student and a teenager, I tend to find it hard to find the energy and time to do either of those things. This is where my new favourite app comes in - PumpUp (not sponsored). I saw a ton of you-tubers recommend it, and a couple of days ago I decided to give it a try. This app basically lets you pick a workout that suits your level, time limit, and what part of the body you are targeting, and it has honestly made me 10X more motivated to workout.

When it comes to food, I try to eat as healthy as I can, but I'm not going to lie, I am guilty of having a sneaky piece of chocolate or an Oreo here and there. Another thing I like to do is drink a  lot of water (especially now the weather is well and truly heating up) because it has a ton of befits (I could probably write a whole blog post on all of them) and helps to keep me from snacking all the time.

Self love - something that there is 100% not enough of in the world. The truth is, the only one that is going to be by your side your entire life is you - so it is worth looking in the mirror and seeing someone you love. Know and accept your flaws, forgive yourself for your mistakes and treat your body as a palace. It will take time, but we can learn to love ourselves together. Let me know if you want to see a blog post of my self-love goals and tips!

YAY! My favourite part! Taking a couple hours to spoil myself once a week helps to relive all the stress and tension that has been building up over the past few days and makes me fell a bit more put together and fresh. Stretching, doing my nails, treating myself to a long soak in the bath or exfoliating and putting on a face mask are all things that I like to do to let myself unwind after a busy week. My next post is going to be my Self-Care Sunday routine, so make sure to stay tuned to the blog if you want to know all the details!

That's it for the first post in my Self-Care September series! I hope you enjoyed reading - follow me on instagram @liasamuels_ to stay up to date with me and my future posts!

Love you all as always,
